Bio
Having performed for two and a half decades and with over twenty years of experience in the field of direct care for individuals with developmental disability, multi-instrumentalist Steve Werner has successfully married his two greatest passions in life. Werner has mastered his ability to identify the physical and emotional needs of his audience in order to adapt his interaction and style, crafting a personalized musical experience that promotes wellness. Werner now offers his services to pursuit of this mission of wellness, accessibility, and passion for the arts.
Care
Werner's career originated with his work in a group home with individuals with special needs. He found it rewarding and took an interest in the field. Werner moved on to working with children with autism, eventually transitioning into working in schools for special needs children. He also spent time working as a nurses aide with down syndrome patients in hospice environments. Werner later transitioned to a position in job coaching, assisting people with disabilities to develop professional skills in a vocational setting. He then found that, utilizing his passion for music, he could provide greater care to individuals in need and began to transition into more immersive musical healing experiences.
Music
Contributing to over twenty music projects and performing countless times live, Werner has gained experience across genres and settings. He has been proven flexible and entrepreneuring, playing venues conventional and otherwise such as country clubs, hospitals, yoga studios, and private settings. Werner has become involved with Arts Heal, a private-public program offered through Lackawanna County that brings musicians into the ICU to create a more relaxing environment for patients, families, and hospital workers.
